John Sullivan was a fabulous writer with the ability to create and then puncture pomposity which is always appealing to British humour. Reducing Citizen Smith to 'Wolfy' and having Del Boy drop through the hatch in the bar were sublime. He understood the frailities of the human character and brought this out in his writing. The birth of Damian was an excellent example of his ability to move the audience from emotional depths to the heights of hilarity; the hallmark of great comedy writing.
