    The lady is surely also a dear friend of BarryW as she too is convinced, but not that convincing, that what is good for her MUST be good for the country.

    Alas, employment and unemployment issues are not in the purview of such folk, be the problems National or endemic.
    If only more could be unveiled and proclaimed about local opportunities instead of bigging-up and advertising openings for the non-resident and excusing the drive for ever lower wages?

    (many years ago) As a schoolchild I joined-in with the local potato harvest and witnessed many the swoop by the DHSS (or whatever it was called then) and their attempts to capture any locals who did this temporary work while on the Dole, yet where else were workers to be found?
    Instead of any grown-up approach we now have the whole of Europe to call upon for cheap labour and many the agent ready to put a shine on things.
    On the other hand, if efforts were to be made to tailor employment law to favour indigenous labour...who would be left to blame?
