  Sorry to relate that Jan, one of our closest friends, died on Sunday after suffering a massive heart attack at the age of 57. He worked for many years at the L'Arche community in Barfrestone, caring for adults with learning difficulties.

  I`m sure this has to be the chap who I`ve seen on numerous occasion`s over the year`s shopping up Tesco. He always had the same lad with him who would stay with the trolley while his carer went shooting off round the different isle`s.

  That's right, Colin. The chap who was usually with him is called Dean and is a great character, although somewhat simple. Jan's funeral has now been fixed for 3pm on Thursday Oct 7th at St Finbarrs RC Church at Aylesham, and afterwards at Blakes.
