    Just to explain one point. The two Dover Carnival groups belong to different Carnival Associations which means that, for the most part, they get invited to participate in different carnivals. It would probably be better if all Kent, or even all SE England carnivals could belong to the same association but it is not just town carnivals that do not want to amalgamate.

    In the centre pages the recent Dover Mercury you will see that when both courts attend a carnival, in this case Sandwich, they both come away with awards for Dover.
