Hi Keith, in response to your posts I can only re-iterate that we have met with the other Association and outlined a way forward, unfortunately at this time we are still awaiting a response. There is nothing else we can do and whilst i understand your feeling with regard to two Carnival Courts etc... at other Carnivals this year the two Courts have worked side by side and both have been awarded prizes and the girls all dance together and generally get on well.
Dover Carnival Association has not put on a Carnival for several years and were happy to hold a smaller event in October called The Dickens Festival, so Dover benefited with two very different events. Dover Town Carnival was set up to keep the July Carnival alive and as such Dover had a Carnival I hope they could be proud of again.
We have simply issued a statement to ensure that our reputation is protected.
With regard to a Christmas Carnival we have been discussing the possibility of running a small Christmas Carnival in conjunction with the Town Council's Christmas Lights Swith On Event. In the light of a Carnival being run in October, we feel that a Christmas Carnival in November is no longer viable. Maybe next year.
