Carnival is a festive season which occurs immediately before Lent; the main events are usually during February. Carnival typically involves a public celebration or parade combining some elements of a circus, mask and public street party. People often dress up or masquerade during the celebrations, which mark an overturning of daily life.
In the days before Lent, all rich foods and drink had to be disposed of.....The consumption of this, a giant party that involved the WHOLE COMMUNITY is thought to be the origin of the Carnival
All of this business of TWO Carnivals, is stupid, and will just highlight the rot in the advancement of this Town, because people just do not get along in a Common Interest....................drain on money and resources too I would think..............
Even Notting Hill and the famous Brazilian agree. Our once vibrant Carnival has become tatty and sad........and now one on a Sunday and October is Complete Madness...............as usual......
