Hard to understand how this could have happened.
Its not like it is a surprise that double deckers are too high for this bridge. No doubt disrupting the whole of the Dover-Victoria railway line for at least the whole of today, too.

At least there are 4 other routes in and out of River. We won't have to send in supplies!

Kearsney and the bridge on Coombe Valley Road are often hit so do the height measurements get corrected after road resurfacing or are drivers simply not aware of their vehicles height.
Another alternative could be sat navs sending them that way so maybe the drivers just continue on regardless thinking it will be ok. Marking the road surface in some way might possibly help as the low bridge signs seem to be ignored or missed.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

the height of a bus is on the dashboard so there is no reason for this to happen, i thought they only used single deckers on this route anyway.

There are systems in place at Stagecoach to stop this happening but you can not account for human error, so have some heart for the driver it could well cost him his job. After all we all make mistakes at times and thankfully no one was hurt as the bus was out of service which is a possibility as to why the driver mistakenly went off route.
