    I spend a lot of time in Germany and I watch My Channel ( Sky 203 ) which enables me to compare the UK with Germany. Today the subject included of maternity payments was highlighted, apparently German mums are paid 100% for 6 weeks preceeding birth and 2 months afterwards followed by 65% of salary to a maximum of 12 months past birth. Payments to fathers is currently very similar to that proposed in the UK.
    Youth crime in the cities and what they refer to as job theft by East Europeans is also is also a grave concern and are causing major problems, so don't think we are alone when confronting these perceived problems. Yesterday on my way back from Sweden I collected from a major distribution centre where I didn't meet a single German, so once again we are not alone.
