Its a lifeline
- 26 November 2013 01:26253744The PC or lap top is a life line for us older ones .When like now cannot sleep well at nights or in pain with the forums and the pc you can always find soming to read or write about 24/7 Going back to the 1950s 60s you could not do that all Most times you had was the TV but even with that it shut down about midnight but they always played the Queen last thing at night,but now TV is working 24/7 and you have the pc to turn on at anytime.Most times there is always members or the public looking in and that must make anyone living on their own feel safer. Tonight is one of them nights still got this cold hanging around ,you like myself find they always play up at nights more then the daytime.I do not have anything to write about at this time but that does not matter does it? Doing this feels in the time till the pills kick in again and then back to bed.

26 November 2013 18:36253795As far as I am concerned one of the best days of my life was when I discovered how to use a computer even though there is still a lot I have to learn. The biggest hurdle for me to overcome was realising I was not going to "kill" it by pushing the wrong button.
The internet is a lifeline to so many, the young disabled as well as us oldies who for various reasons are not a agile as we were. I have made so many internet friends over the years some of whom I have met and others who I doubt I will ever meet as they live a long way away.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

26 November 2013 20:02253801Nice to think that you are taking a positive attitude to the benefits available online Vic! As long as you are aware that there is someone out there to 'talk' to, albeit not too many in the middle of the night in the Uk, it could be a good 'pick me up.'
Also don't forget, because of the time zones in the world, there are others up and about. Worth a try to find others with the same interests as you to pass the time!
Ever thought of using Skype or FaceTime? That would really surprise them!

- 27 November 2013 03:04253837I also like doing the puzzles books which we get out of the works book shop the one we are doing now is a criss cross word one there are over 600puzzles and all for only £2.99 that is a great shop we are always in there buying even sweets .I must say I like geting up at this time when I was working my day always started about now or 0400hrs,had to get to the workshop and open up and then off to London we had to be on site by 0700hrs some times it was going to places like Norfork along old way just for the day but most steel workers had to do the same not much call for that kind of work around here apart from the port which we have done some big jobs in there like making the copper dams for the new births etc.but most work comes in from around London.
- 27 November 2013 04:59253839 Feel great right now been up about 2hours had my bath and food ,cup of tea, and my pills,but just wait till about midday,I will be out for the count again in the chair cat siting in my lap wife trying to wake me up for my midday pills that will put me back to sleep again great geting old no more time tables to work to, apart from going to the drs or hos/.
