Some years ago we cleared out the shed in our garden in Eythorne. One item we didn't need was our daughter's bicycle as she had left home by then. As it needed lots of money spent to make it roadworthy she said just take it to the tip. I couldn't be fagged to do that so we left it outside the front of the house in the hope that someone local would pinch it and put it to some use. It sat there for months.

One Sunday we came back from Canterbury and it was gone. We were just contemplating opening a celebratory bottle when there was a knock on the door. It was our neighbour. He said:"while you were out some of those scrotes from Elvington tried to nick that bike. I chased them down the road, had words with them, managed to get it back and I've left it by your shed."
