it seems that the nurse who took the call from the two [2] austrailian disc jockys, who where pretending to be the queen and prince charles has apparently committed suiside this morng, acorrding to a sky news report.
a very sad case indeed, and i hope the two dj's are big enough to apologise to the girls parents in person.

shocking news but there must have been other factors, all she was guilty of was being a bit naive.

It seems to be so indeed Brian...
" SIR - A nurse who was duped by a hoax call regarding the Duchess of Cambridge's health could, perhaps, be forgiven for falling for the trick; a nurse who gave out confidential information over the phone, however, breached well-established regulations regarding patient confidentiality and should be sacked.

Those two Australians should have this poor woman's death on their conscience for the rest of their lives especially as her two children have now lost their mother.
Such a sad outcome just because she duped into putting the call through to the duty nurse.

For sure Brian, a terrible thing. Of course the misconduct, if there was any, spoken of in that letter to the Telegraph would most likely concern the nurse on the ward. No good deed goes unpunished.

A very sad thing to have happened and so unnecessary.
I agree with Jan's post no. 6.

Going slightly sideways on the subject of the phone call, surely the palace aids should have set up some sort of password as a means of verification of a genuine call from relatives.

I can only assume that once the call was put through to the ward the nurse in question would have taken it for granted that the call was kosher - why wouldn't she? She isn't going to question the caller's credentials for fear of losing her job for questioning a higher authority. The person who took the call seemed to be foreign and would not have been able to distinguish between the real and phoney Queen.
So burdened with the immense embarrassment and guilt and finding oneself in the public eye on every tabloid and news outlet on the planet the utter, utter shame was probably too much to take. It's one thing finding oneself in the local paper for some minor story and that can be bad enough but multiply that by millions and the result can be disastrous if, indeed, this was the reason for the poor woman to take her life.

it was clearly a prank that was not intended to be malicious, i still think there were other things that would have contributed to her apparent suicide.
every time i have rang a hospital i get put through to the ward and get given information without my details being checked out.

It wasn't intended to be malicious but that station wallows in pranks and publicity stunts. I'm sure that if I were to phone up one of the broadcasters and tell them that a member of their family had been involved in a terrible car accident they would not see the funny side and would probably try to sue or contact the police. But these people think that they are above all this because they are........."professionals".

Yes Philip #6
A decent amount of employer support may have helped.

The lady that killed herself was the first lady to pick up the phone
All she did was pas the phone over to the second lady,
The one that did all the speaking ,was not the lady that killed herself.
I think,
That the over paid managers descended from there ivory towers, accompanied by royal flunkeys, and totally bullied these girls.
The DJs ,
comedy is comedy they tried it on and struck lucky, We have all listened to
wined ups, and had a good chuckle, its British and Australian humour
We pay big for all the flunkies and jobs worth's around the V I Ps,
If any one is responsible for the slip in security, and these girls feeling bad its this lot.

"...The dead woman's family has been given typed copies of the three handwritten notes by the police and has read the contents, the Guardian has been told.
One note deals with the hoax call by the DJs from 2Day FM, another details her requests for her funeral, and the third addresses her employers, the hospital, and contains criticism of staff there, the Guardian understands from two separate sources."
"The Labour MP Keith Vaz, who is acting as a spokesman for Saldanha's husband and two children, published a letter from him to John Lofthouse, chief executive of the King Edward Vll hospital, calling for the "full facts" of what happened to be given to the family.
Earlier this week the nurse's family met Lofthouse and handed over a list of questions they want answered. Vaz said in his letter to Lofthouse: "I have dealt with similar cases in the past and I would agree with the prime minister that the family need to get the full facts, from the time she took the call from 2Day FM to the time she was found in her accommodation.
"The family gave you a list of questions that they wish the hospital to answer so that they can have the full facts of the case. I know they would appreciate answers to their questions in writing as soon as possible. They may also have additional questions.""
