..I don't remember its name but a lot of years ago I found a product that was ideal for repairing holes where you needed to screw into.
It was like a putty raw plug.
It was in a strip with a paper each side to stop it sticking together, you would break off a section, wet your fingers (to prevent it sticking to them) then kneed it to soften it with the warmth of your fingers. You could press it into a hole that needed filling and then screw into it. It cured very hard and would stick to the surrounding surface solidly. It worked brilliantly and I could do with some now for a small repair job.
Does anyone know what that stuff was called, if its still available or if there is something else like it?
Normal filler just does not work so well.

B&Q stock it, it's an Araldite product, it's in the adhesives section. It's actually a strip of epoxy together with a strip of hardener, you knead them together.

Is that the dark blue and white strip adhesive?

Barry, I believe the product you are thinking of was called Plug & Repair but it was discontinued by Rawlplug and no replacement brought to market. You could try Jewsons or Travis Perkins to see if there is anything similar.

Thanks everyone. That does ring a bell Tony.
It was not a 'two part' product Peter but if the Areldite one you refer to does the same job then great. Many thanks

Lol. I'm sure I saw what Barry is looking for in stuff on the London Road recently. It used to be made from asbestos but they have changed the formula since.
