I may be wrong but I think the point of the comment was that if a blind person is walking around with a pointed stick, there is so much litter around that they could not help picking some of it up, thus leaving less on the ground. Meaning you do not even need to see to amass the rubbish. It was not a particularly clever use of language, but I really do not see how it can be offensive. The most offensive thing I ever had said to me was by a midwife tutor who passed me on the stairs, and having never met me before siad "Do you know how fat you are?". Perhaps other forumites have been treated to a truly offensive remark?
