Is this a picture of a seafront ghost??
- 15 January 2014 07:59257801Two nights ago i was up in the early hours and figured the time was right to try and get a picture of the new seafront lights to put on the Sea News pages. So i did and put the picture up yesterday without any further ado. But then later in the day I noticed something odd on the right hand side of that picture. The original picture is here at..

But take a look.There appears to be a figure on the bottom righthandside of the picture, but in reality there was nobody about anywhere, the streets were completely deserted. The camera was set to maximum sensitivity so it wasnt a long exposure either so nothing blurred. I took several pictures of the same scene and there is definitely nobody at all walking along. But take a look at this..see bottom of picture towards the right..
Ive tried to enlarge the enlargement without much success but here it is anyway..

- 15 January 2014 10:50257815I thought about that possibility already John but it doesnt look like lens flare. Ive had all kinds of lens flare photographing sunrises and sunsets over the years etc...but it didnt look quite like that..this time its too uneven or something..

Firstly I think it is a type of flare, but may I ask what type of camera you use - DSLR or compact, Do you use a lens hood and was the memory card clean or is it well used? Also was the shot taken through glass? Yes can give you the details you ask for there Phil. But first the reason i dont think its flare...if you look at the full picture on the Sea News

you can see it represent just a tiny bit of the whole pic..(the pics above are enlargements) and it just doesnt look like the flare we see year in year out ..in that main pic particularly. Loads of other lights on view, none producing 'flare'. The camera was a Nikon P7100 compact relatively new and it was not taken through glass. It was taken with no glass no window in front of it. The card is an SD card again fairly new.
there you have it. As Phil from the Express says...I didnt notice this to begin with..just photographed the seafront lights for the Sea News page, twas only later I wondered what it was.

And asking with my notorious eye for nit-picking detail, aren't they two different images? The lower one definitely has camera shake that the upper one doesn't (look at the front number plate or the shiny bits on the roof, they have a vertical smear). - 15 January 2014 20:31257853I also thought they looked like two different images above.

Its a Sou'wester Jeane..you know those yellow oilskin outfits fishermen used to wear while out in the fierce Atlantic.
Yes I took three to four pictures...was just focussing on the new lantern lights on the left hand side of the road as we look. I spotted the Spectre later...

Several friends who have stayed with us have told us of a ghost appearing during their stay and have individually
described in her in accurate detail.
When discussed at dinner parties with friends in our village and surrounding villages they have said there
was a lady in the village many years ago dressed as described,Spanish dress with high ruffled collar that
had an affair with the Village Blacksmith and the local Farmer had lots more to say on the subject.
When we finally sent an invitation to the farmer we were informed he had .died.
The stories still continue to this day.Our home borders on the Pilgrims way and then St Andrews Church grave yard.

Yes I bet there are a few ghostly spooky places out your way. But ahh no..them ghosts are best left undisturbed. Back in the old country there were a few sinister places I can tell you. There was one lonely road where late at night you had to make it past the graveyard on the way back from the pub ...and you could hear the banshees a-wailin' and a-cryin'...and the yew trees creaking and swaying even when there was no wind.
No wonder me hair turned white at the premature age of 64
