12:4291150A lady i know has been living in her car for nearly 2 years with short stays at her Brothers house and every time she puts in a bid she is always overlooked for the person below her, this has happened on three or four times she believes its because she is an X Alcoholic and feels she is being Discriminated Against. she is also Diabetic and the only place to keep her Insulin is in the boot of her car.

12:5391151i would be very surprised if that had an influence on their decision.
there are very few properties available and they have a points system to work out who gets priority, haven't a clue how it works though.
having said that it cannot be right for anyone to have to live in a car.

07:5891249Why don't you ask her to contact her Councillor to see if he/she can help.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

13:2791302Further to the comments that have been made i have since found out that this lady has been told by the council that she is top of the list for allocation Twice but on both occasions this has gone to someone else i was under the impression that all councils have some duty of care to the residents living in the parish this is obviously not the case at DDC there is always someone quick enough to point the finger and say its not my dept its someone else's but they're very quick to help unmarried mothers who get pregnant knowing they will get a flat or a house quicker if they have the baby and live at home with there parents instead of helping the vulnerable of this town.

13:5291305My daughter on several occassionss reached the top of the housing list in Amesbury and was usurped by others who had more points, and on each occasion the successful applicant came from outside of Amesbury catchment area. Apparently vacant social housing is on the internet and anyone in the UK can bid. Perhaps Councillor Nicholas can give us the benefit of her many years experience as Head of Housing at DDC.

16:4791339i heard about that system for people to claim housing over the internet, that must leave out those who are not computer savvy.
furthermore many councils will only put people on their waiting list that have strong links to the area.
