could be a turning point reg, dave has to stand up for his party some time.
if he does then it will not only improve his standing with the party but also the wider electorate.

I feel that many conservatives will be pleased to look back on this particular era in later years and will be glad to be able to ''blame'' the Libdems for holding them ''back'' and preventing them from making real changes in government policy.
Clegg and co will be the whipping boys as the Tories refuse to accept any responsibility then or now for their actions, blaming the Labour Party for everything under the sun from the price of fish n chips to the economic world crisis.

I think the Libdems would run a mile from a general election right now. Their position in the polls is right down there with Colonel Gaddafi..ie not toooo popular. So they are trying to buy time. trying to rebuild. Trying to create a new personality of difference between themselves and the Tories. Otherwise people will just vote blue or red. Right now orange = blue. As was highlighted by the can of paint the other day.

dave is in the box seat, as said by paul there is now way the clegg and chums would welcome an election.
it is also clear that ed and the reds would not welcome an election either, dave really has to show his authority for the first time.

If it comes to a game of chicken, Clegg will back down rather than lose his rather cushy number.
