Today, Sunday 13th December 2020, Dover is the fifth highest in the country re virus infected individuals. Am I surprised? No, not at all. This morning I witnessed a male passenger getting into a taxi and sitting in the front with the driver. Both without masks and off it went. This in the taxi rank outside Boots. It is difficult to get ones head round the utter selfishness of the large majority of people in Dover who will not wear a mask unless they actually have to, as in a shop. Even then this varies enourmessly. Most of the other than English stores in town, especially in the High Street, are not enforcing masks for customers. They have a moral responsibility to do so, but........ What is it about those I pass by who give me odd looks when they see me in my mask. I go out of my way to protect them AND myself but they do not care. Should they contract this nasty virus they will complain bitterly. How many are going to infect each other this xmas? How many of their family members are they going to be responsible for as they pass it along and cause deaths within that family?

Not just in the top 5 in the country but also rising quicker than anywhere else.
Whilst I agree there are far too many people ignoring the basics, I also think DDC and KCC have been sticking their heads in the sand and hoping it will go away. Testing capacity throughout the Dover district is a joke. Thanet have marshals in their high streets to encourage people to act responsibly.

How do you know that the driver and passenger were not known to each other/in a social bubble?
Whilst I can see why one should wear a mask in an indoor/enclosed space why should one wear a mask in the open air?
Since when was it the responsibility of local authorities to provide testing ? The government outsourced that to their chums in the private sector who then needed the military to help them out.
Track and Trace only works if people then do as they are asked and self-isolate for the requisite time period and report any symptoms/get tested.

To comply with the rules when it is not possible to stay at least 2 metres away from someone who is not a member of your household.

I think this has been the theme throughout this period.
So we go on infecting and people then go on complaining about the restrictions being put in place .
We can do our bit by abiding by the guidlines , or we can ignore them and the virus will continue to spread and we will be in these lockdowns/restrictions .
I t can make you feel very insecure and start to think that those not abiding get the disease and it kills there family members
It can bring the worst out in people.
We can all do our bit to at least bring the high numbers down, or we can let it go on and on
And go well over the 60,000 already happened.
It's about choice

Well I can inform Mr Miller, who for some reason sees no need for masks outside, that the passenger and driver were not in a bubble or related in any way. Why? Had I gone into specific detail I would no doubt have had to write an essay. The passenger first went to the last cab in the line and asked to be taken to ......... He was told no and to go the front cab. Had they been related/bubble he would have gone there first, wouldn't he.
