23:4370476We've been to Ironbridge Gorge several times, and were there just a couple of weeks ago. It was in the Severn that Capt Matthew Webb, we were told, practised his swimming. It clearly was good training, as he became first to swim the channel unaided. There's a plaque for him in a local church - but because the circumstances of his death were a little under question, it's in the porch, rather than inside the church itself.
Very near us is the oldest cast iron bridge still carrying vehicular traffic. It was opened 20 years after Ironbridge.

23:4570477I prefer Cheddar gorge. Usually on toast with some chorizo.

16:5670591Interesting that Bob, and Deutsche Bahn are certainly getting things done on our railways. Can`t see it being too long before the ICE trains arrive.
