12:5088402rather a lot of police activity in pencester road about 10.45 am.
2 police cars turned up and the officers went into the indoor market.
whilst on the subject of pencester the heron is still there and seems rather lifeless, no-one has seem him take to the air since his arrival.

15:2588417Could he have eaten all the fish in that area and not realised it, he does look rather down in Howards picture. Maybe the RSPCA or a local vet could help.

13:4088664If Poundland comes to Dover then, inevitably, other shops will suffer. The bargain shop down by St.Marys and the one called Alladin's Cave being just two. As Poundland sells many things cheaper than Savers,Superdrug,The British Bookshop etc then our main stores will suffer, too.

23:0088740For 'a few weeks' read March. They are interviewing for staff now.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

00:0388742It's always good to hear that national chains are showing an interest in the town. Competition is good for the customer and will hopefully drive up standards at other retailers. There are certainly a few big retailers in Dover who need shaking up, and I'd include M&S as one of them!

08:1588746Everyone needs to be on their toes to survive and thrive; too much complacency will have the carpet whisked away from under you and before you know it, another business has taken your trade.
There was a piece on the TV the other day about service and how important it is - more so than the quality of the product.
Michel Rioux was saying that if service is good people will come back to a restaurant even if the food is not wonderful, but if the food is great but the service is rubbish, they won't go back.
I don't think many businesses, whatever they sell, appreciate the benefits of good training, good staff and good service.

16:0888786"I don't think many businesses, whatever they sell, appreciate the benefits of good training, good staff and good service." Age Concern do, they have me.
Seriously, I could not agree more. Good and friendly service makes up for a multitude of sins because the customers will return.

12:5988901If you have to pay a little more for good service and advice, it is well worth it. An assistant who gives the impression that they are too busy or you are a nuisance, doesn't deserve to have a job.
