Incident in the channel

  the life boat crews of dover and deal were called to an incident 11 miles off our coast last evening.
  
  2 motor cruises collided and our life boat people winched a total of 6 people to safety, no injuries reported.

  to be pedantic it is after doing a days work they do the rescues.
  
  to my knowledge only one crew member(the engineer) is actually paid.

  I cannot understand why this happened. The crews obviously cannot have been monitoring their radios and why they would not do this in the middle of one of the busiest shipping channels in the world beggars belief.
  Congratulations to all the Lifeboat crew who did, as usual, a magnificient job.

  i must admit to a bit of disbelief at the collision in broad daylight.
  
  no doubt the maritime authorities will hold an investigation.
