I'm sure we all have a view on what should be done David.

My view is that as we are members of the EU, we are tied to the EU rules on immigration; this is even more reason to leave the EU and we can then set our own rules on immigration.

When people come into Britain, whether at an airport or ferry port, the immigration officers know what country he/she has flown/sailed from; they should ask him/her what their own country is and if he/she refuses to say, put him/her back on the first plane or ferry back to where that plane or ferry came from.
They should also advise them that if they commit any crime that warrants a prison term, they will spend it back in their own country and not be allowed back into the U.K.

It is and has been, a complete shambles; I heard/saw the new immigration minister on TV this morning and I thought he was useless - and I'm a Tory.

Australia and New Zealand each have a strong border force agency and they don't let these rubbish people in, or any drugs, illegal food or those breaking the terms of their visas. There is an afternoon TV program on, called "Nothing to Declare", that shows they do not take any nonsense and if people cannot go in, they're sent back straight away, no holding them for months or years, like we do, but then they don't have the EU strangling them.
