It would appear that the EU is to make a U-turn with regard to unfettered travel across the continent . A majority of EU governments agreed the need to reinstate national passport controls amid fears of a flood of immigrants fleeing the upheaval in north Africa.
They also agreed to combat immigration by pressing for "readmission accords" with countries in the Middle East and north Africa to send refugees back to where they came from.
Italy and France have been crapping themselves with the flood of North Africans fleeing to their country and the situation has been brought to a head by Denmark who have re-instated border controls regardless of the schengen agreement.

border controls always appeared to work, and in my view looked to be a backward step when the UK withdrew theres.
it may be to late for earlier ones, but that doesn't stop you oing something about today does it?
an uk neds to decide is just anyone let in, even within the EU?
Maybe if they are fleeing for there life, but looks ,like many have jumped on the band wagon.

Keith, we (the UK) have not withdrawn our border controls. Where did that come from?

imigrtion/border controls are ok if they are put in the right place to start with,ie.south of france italy and around the entire eu borders.france and italy because of north africa and middle east problems.and by doing that and enforcing the controls on the peramaters of all eu borders, the problems should be eased.but on the other hand if the borders of the eu are well gaurded theres no reason why we cant have open bourders witin the eu including the ones between us and france.
