Hi Lesley.
No, never. For some reason they don 't appeal to me. The attraction is to make an accurate replica of the original aircraft, in service, all weathered and a bit battle weary!!!! Not quite the same kind of thing as remote control aircraft.
Anyway, as I usually do - here is a pic of my next project but I won't be able to start it for a week or so.....
I have a 'stash' of 9 kits as well as this one to build. All 32 scale, most of which are multi-media, mostly injection molded plastic kits but many also with photo-etch brass, steel rods, rubber, white metal and/or resin parts. These help provide more detail or strength to load-bearing parts. The kits waiting to be built are:
Dragon Bf110 (Luftwaffe heavy fighter)
Trumpeter Swordfish Mk1 (Fleet Air Arm Channel dash hero)
Trumpeter Me262 (world's first operational jet, operated by the Luftwaffe)
Trumpeter Grumman Avenger (US Navy torpedo aircraft)
Hasegawa Ki61 'Tony' (Japanese air-defence fighter)
Hasegawa P47 Thunderbolt (Gabby Gabreski's bird the USAAF top ace)
Hasegawa JU87 Stuka (Luftwaffe tankbuster)
Tamiya Spitfire MkXVI 'bubbletop' (RAF late war sub-type)
Special Hobby P39 Aircobra (Soviet Guard Regiment plane)
I have a growing list of 'must buy' kits to add to the stash but I decided not to have more than 10 at any one time! All these are new tooled kits not in the shops yet (apart from the Mig and Fiat) but expected later this year.
Tamya Corsair (US Marine Corp fighter)
Revell Spitfire MkII (OK - its Revell but I need a Mk1 to build Bobby Oxspring's bird and there are no others in 32 scale this beign a Mark II it can easily be converted to mk 1 configuration)
Special Hobby Hawker Tempest (late war RAF fighter)
HK Models Meteor (RAF's first operation jet entered service at end of WW2)
Special Hobby Fiat G50bis (Italian WW2 fighter, something a bit different...)
Trumpeter Mig 3 (Soviet WW2 high altitude fighter)
Looks like I will have to get building.... where will I get the display space though, that is the question!!!!
