  Now you've said that Kath the photos are going to become more interesting.
  The structure behind the sign is the River Hull flood defence barrier ( a bit like the Thames ), Hull used to flood on a regular basis in parts and I remember as a kid no one could get into the local pub due to flooding. OMG.
