the idea is a good one, up north there are a higher proportion of people working in the public sector and they have lower house prices and overall a lower cost of living than those living in the south east.
What will happen to all those nurses, hospital porters and policemen with second homes for which they can now claim expenses. No, wait, that's MPs! Phew, for a moment there I thought Osborne had done the dirty on his colleagues. What a relief!

Excellent Bern!!!
At least if it applies to areas of low income any potential capitalist MPs will not bother standing, unless they live in a rich area.
Great news.

bit of a red herring that, wherever the constituency of an m.p. is they will spend most of their time in london.

That's not true Howard.
Our MP lives round the corner from me.
It has to be said he is the the most environmentally friendly MP. He never uses his lights and he never wastes a thing, putting no rubbish out for the dustman.

a tad unfair darren i feel sure that he puts his rubbish in the right receptacles at one of his homes, probably the humble abode in knightsbridge.
