Hougham Morris Minors
- 11 September 2012 22:46190960No, not cars, but the Hougham village Morris men, who did some 'turns' at the Church Hougham event at the weekend, when there were open gardens, exhibition of quilts and crafts at the church, craft fair, dog show, etc. etc.
These 'entertainers' were a hoot, and obviously enjoyed themselves - I particularly enjoyed seeing all their varied footwear! Who would like to join them I wonder ???

I was expecting to see a fleet of Morris Minors in those subtle shades of grey black and blue. The vehicle of humble legend, so loved by District Nurses everywhere back in the 60's and maybe even as late as the 70's.
Of course I myself dont remember any of that....cough ..
But of course the Morris dancers are grand too. I remember pictures Terry Nunn took several years ago when Bob Markham was Mayor, when down on the seafront they danced away in jolly style to mark the arrival of dawn. Cant remember what the occasion was but Terry might remember...wonder if you still have any of those shots still Terry??

Lincolnshire Born and Bred - 12 September 2012 12:05191015Yes, saw this lot at Church Hougham - I have to say that 'rehearsals' must have involved quite a lot of alcohol! Since The Fabric Fairy was trading there over both days, Mr Finnis and the boys inflicted the routine on us more than once......
.....but overall it was a brilliant event over two days of scorching sunshine with a wonderful atmosphere as well.
