I thought everyone knew that hygiene procedures were just there to protect the doctors and nurses, not the patients.

When Jean had her kidnery transplant in December 2003, the Consultants used to come round, pick and poke at her wound without surgical gloves or cleaning their hands, consequently she kept getting "hospital acquired infections" and had to stay in hospital for over 7 months.
The transplanted kidney had to come out as the infections slowly killed it - she's been back on the transplant list longer than she was before she had that first transplant (probably twice as long); God knows how long it will be for the next one (wish he'd let us know).

Now until never I think Howard, it all depends when a match turns up.

Thanks guys - it can be between now and forever. It used to be around two years, but is much longer nowadays and of course many people die without having that transplant that could save/change their lives.
She does keep pretty well though (as well as you can be with kidney failure) and is always positive - thank goodness.
