Yes they are done now 7days aweek and late at night we have had them at 2030 hrs,and this weekend one was at Margate Saturday at 1230hrs,and today. Sunday we have one at Canterbury at 1300hrs so drs are working up to seven days aweek and do not go home 1700hrs.I still think we have the best Drs and treatment free in the whole of the world.

been like that for some time with weird appointment times sometimes due to consultants trying to fit in their n.h.s work with private work.
i had a ct scan on a saturday afternoon at canterbury.

My sister, who has difficulty walking, has appointments scheduled for a Sunday at the William Harvey despite informing them that there is no bus service to her village on a Sunday.

hospital transport has been found wanting, i seem to remember the service being farmed out to a private company.
even when working well many patients that have an early appointment then have to wait hours for a return journey unless things have changed.

Remember my nephew who was involved in a car accident recently? He has now returned home and will need to attend out patient appointments. He is confined to a wheelchair but has been told he may NOT qualify for patient transport.

That is good news about your nephew's return home

, this site may be of some help regarding his transport.

Everything seems to revolve around people being able to just jump in a car to get there be it a hospital or or a megastore, those of us without a car no longer seem to matter when various plans get drawn up.

on the patients not eligible it includes people that can use public transport, all well and good on the surface but fails to take into account that evenings and sunday are pretty useless in east kent and as for people living in villages.

Thanks Jan, he has had to borrow a wheelchair which is not suited to his needs as to hire one from the NHS would cost his parents £35 a week and as he will need it for at least 3 months it was just not viable.

All areas need enough funds to give the correct medical care to those who need it, it should not matter if the area is full of pensioners or the young or the middle aged.
It seems to me the political arm of the BMA are stirring it again.

if that report is correct it looks like a vote catching exercise with nothing based on clinical need. the n.h.s will never stop being used as a political football.
