Councils get easier path to firing Chief Executives from Eric`give him the money Barny`Pickles.
He will scrap laws that require the use of lawyers, which can cost up to £ 420,000 in legal fees to sack
a Chief Executive.
Chief Executive`s can earn between £ 150,000....£ 450,000.
In the past Local Authorities have paid enormous ``good bye``lump sums to save paying legal fees.
In East Kent we have four Chief Executives doing the same job when only one is required, including
extremely expensive management teams, when only one is required, the general staff numbers will be
required in all four areas,so no heavy redundancies will be needed.

looking at those figures reg, if we take an average 300 grand per chief executive it will mean a saving of 1.2 million smackers over the city of canterbury, dover, shepway and thanet.
that must amount to not many pence per household saved.

Rather misleading information there - I can see from the internet
Ashford Chief Exec - between 105,000 to 109,999
Dover Chief Exec- 123,862
Canterbury - £130,000 to £134,999
Personally Living in Dover District I would rather have someone fighting for my area rather than one in Canterbury or Thanet with different priorities....
Been nice knowing you :)

I was never convinced of unitaries
but we are now overloaded with councils and they should be streamlined
