  the police have to be held to account of course but some liverpool fans were responsible for what happened on the day. in the era of terraces all tickets for semi finals and finals were clearly marked that the bearer has to be in the ground one hour before kick off to ensure that the stewards could pack people in properly.
  
  on that day many supporters rolled out of the pub next to the ground and forced their way in causing impossible congestion. i have seen this myself at semi finals i have attended at Villa Park. It is totally frightening and the minority of fans that did this meant that terraces were closed and football made unaffordable to many since then.
