Just to bring you up to speed on a couple of issues along the A20:

Bridge jointing: The dip in the jointing on the eastbound carriageway near to the Light of India has been dealt with and the position with the bridge joints on the other carriageway is being monitored.

Access covers outside the County Hotel and at the entrance to East Cliff have been re-seated.

The above problems were causing lorry wheels to jump about particularly when the trailers were empty and the constant noise was intolerable to people living nearby.

    Subway:
Lights: So far the Highways Agency's electricians have been successful in getting all lights on the western side to work and about 50% on the eastern side.
They intend being on site again on Monday next week (17th) to sort the remainder out. It has been a cabling issue and those still not working require some extra attention. The intention is to try to pull the cable through the trunking that is located behind the tiles and if this is not possible they intend to fix new trunking on the outside of the tiles.

Surface Water: As this soak away is below the level of the river any water is pumped out and the electric pump is apparently on the same electricity supply as the lights. With some of the lighting now working and the surface water having disappeared it looks as if the pump is now working again. This needs to be and will be monitored. There is some silt residue still evident and this will be handled using normal street cleansing resources over the next few days.

Pot holes - A20 & A2: the Highways Agency and their consultants are both aware of this unacceptable situation and I am continuing to press for action.
