  The High & Dry has nosedived in recent times in terms of quality, ambience and price. I'm not surprised it's closing, people vote with their feet - it used to be packed in there just for the food (especially Sunday lunchtimes), now it's empty most of the time. Says something.......
  
  I like Blakes (as per Roger's post) and The Park Inn which seems quite vibrant these days. I've only been in The White Horse on two occasions, and on each occasion it was like walking into a saloon in one of those old Western movies: the place fell silent, every pair of eyes turned on me and the piano player stopped playing. I ordered a quick shot of red eye and moseyed on out of town.
