For decades unemployed have been shoved off onto the sickness benefits. This is now being reversed and they are being pushed back in the other direction.

the report says differently barry, talks about people not qualifying for jobseekers allowance.

Then good - they will have to get a job. Jobs are around, largely taken by immigrants.

I'm thinking of applying to join the paralel universe that Keith lives in with the money tree in the garden.
And he says I dont live in "the real world", wherever it is.

i have read the report through again and am totally confused.
2 things
a) who would be unemployed and not be entitled to jobseekers allowance?
b) ian duncan smith tells us that people are being moved off of incapacity benefit to j.s.a. but the report says the opposite.

Howard -
a) Those not looking for a job and those on sickness benefits legitimately or not.
b) We have had threads on here saying how awful the government was for getting a private firm to test whether claimants really are disabled or not.
Either it is happening or it is not - the fact is it is happening and the best proof of that linked to the reforms is the fall in the number of households where no-one is working.

Nope, Brian. Many people signing on are put on courses, but they are still unemployed and receive JSA unless they actually manage to find employment.

Barry, totally wrong: jobs are often GIVEN to immigrants, often through agencies who recruit exclusively immigrants, often in their own country, to come and work here.
Do you know anything at all how job agencies work here in Kent??

Anyone refused Job Seekers Allowance is automatically entitled to Income support.
