Have I read the specifications correctly, that those to be commemorated in this way must not have been commemorated locally in any other way;no streets named after them, no plaques etc.?
If so, it seems a little odd that Dame VL is in this position. I am reminded of one humorous slogan...
"My Friend went to LONDON and all i got was this lousy T-shirt"
The very idea of the silhouette of a gun-man, parachuting royal to one side, is rather insensitive. And with all the military statuary along the sea front is another one top of anybody's list?
I'm sure you all shall pick the right one, but is having only one group running this a break with the age old Dover tradition?
