Surprised no comments on here.I could not attend this year as like a lot of people I have a cough.I will always remember this date I think as a Town we should never forget .

Those who lived in Dover at that time will always remember that terrible event as everyone was affected in some way, either directly or through friends and workmates. RIP
I posted the above on a Facebook group but what surprised me was that some (I assume young people) had never heard about that awful time, I guess those involved never talk about the disaster where so many lives were lost.

I'm only marginally surprised. All my 3 sons were born after the event. The disaster was a case study on a risk course I attended with most people there being my age; despite it being the 25th anniversary to the day, few had heard of it and not one connected it with Dover.

How sad that is .I see people everyday who's lives were changed on that day .

I attended the service today as I have done for the last 31 years. We are getting fewer in number as the years go by obviously. Two old shipmates of mine who attended every year have passed away this year. I cannot see it carrying on as memories dim.
