Following on from my rant about shopping, I called into a certain high street stationer's in Dover to buy two books. One was that excellent book by Derek Leach about Lillian Kay and the other was the latest offering from Delia Smith.
At the checkout I was given a free bag. Super, another cloth bag to add to the collection.
Looking at my receipt later I was surprised to see that it said "Free Delia Bag"
Where is she being incarcerated and why?
I think we should be told.

Lillian Kay is still about and a member of the History Society, until last year she was still driving to the meetings,an incredible lady,I know you should never ask but how old is she Terry?
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

I have a newspaper cutting by Bob Hollingsbee which states she was born in 1914. Miss Kay was headteacher when I was at the Grammar, and my mum knew her well as they grew up together in the same part of Dover.
Miss Kay came to the Civilian Service of Remembrance we held last year, and I'm told she joined in all the hymns with gusto, with her super singing voice.

PS I think it's okay to ask in this instance, JHG, as she is such a remarkable lady

In fact Derek's book opens with this from Lillian "In 1914 Mum was over fortyfour and childless; Dad was over fiftyfive. Then the impossible happened! On 4th July, a month before the First World War broke out, they had a new baby - me!"
Like I said, it's an excellent book.

well that is two members, will there be anymore?
i must admit to rather liking the idea of banging up tv cooks.
maybe we could even have the odd execution?
I was unfortunately caught looking at Delias latest programme and must admit I thought it was a joke! She must be taking some stick for pushing tinned and packet food - which although has its merits asks for little expertise and even less imagination. She is off my shopping list and should go back to football where theaudience is less fussy!

i think that you will find that football crowds are very fussy, they pay upwards of 30 quid a game in the top flight.

I suppose the gastronomic fare at Norwich home games will now move on from a cup of Bovril and Marmite on toast to packet mash & tinned mince with a dash of Worcestershire sauce to be now known as 'Home-made' Shepherds pie?

"Who ate all the pies?"...............
I won't continue as it contains offensive language and references to over weight people.
