I think it is called tactics, the meeting is not in the most accessible of areas just to make certain not many members of the public will attend.
Being cynical if quiet they will say the public have no interest in the NHS having open meetings.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Should you wish to ask questions it is perhaps best to know something about what is to be said. Hopefully, some information is to be found here...

spot on jan.
No.1 make sure it is not advertised in the local press.
No.2 arrange it for a time most people are at work or collecting their offspring from school.
No.3 stage it at the top of a steep hill.
classic consultation exercise.

Unfortunately I am not in Dover on Wednesday. If I was I would be tempted to go along with a crowd of friends and acquaintances in an act of civil obedience, just to shock the organisers.

just a reminder of today of the meeting at the ark christian centre, a great opportunity to be heard then ignored.

so what did you think of the meeting paul, was it just a presentation or was there genuine dialogue with the top people listening to the peasantry?

Pretty anodyne stuff Howard, don't know what the public would have made of it. Very NHS speak. Reports thin and very cautiously presented.
Starting year with overspend, one of main causes increased out patient activity.
Clinical incidents and complaints taken over from PCT and appears quicker clear up rate.
Public speaking/questions at end of session.
Darren Cocker tried to bring it down to a level of plain speaking rather than NHS mumbo jumbo.
Good intentions but big agenda to get to grips with and new joined up responsibilities being imposed by legislation.
Fairly good start.
Brian Masters? is the public's face[Lay Member] on the Board and should be used to press the professionals.

I was at another session at County level on Weds.
Interesting comments on A& E scenario. It appears numbers are flat across East Kent [not increasing] but admissions to beds via A & E are increasing.
An Ashford GP ventured the reason was the lack of faith in out of hours and patients going directly to A & E by passing the GP medical services.

thanks for the report paul, sounds like you are being guardedly optimistic.
will be interesting to see if brian masters can stand his ground against the professionals!!
are we to understand that darren cocker is the one member of the board that can communicate with the general public?
re; 13
let's not forget the debacle of the n.h.s direct phone service.

No Howard, Darren & Joe Chaudry were public aware as was Karen Benbow, Chief Operating Officer [admin].
This is the group with KCC that will decide whether Buckland intermediate care beds.

Frightening stuff with so many close to retirement and younger ones not being interested in becoming GP's.

The way I see it is that more and more people will clog up accident and emergency services simply because they don't have a GP.
Not good locally as the nearest centres are in Margate and Ashford.
