Please note I have not called it a hospital.I have always told people a Health facility, however the reason for my posting.Whilst our MP celebrates in the local press I'm dismayed As I always told people Consultants would meet patients at Buckland. This is not happening .Once again the people of Dover are being short changed. Please tell me how do you get to William Harvey for early morning appointments if you donot drive.Yes I have travelled to the hospital bus to Dover ,train to Ashford then. Twenty minute bus ride to the hospital.
This was to visit a relative different story if you are ill.
So less of the flag waving and deliver what was promised.I always try to tell people the truth and now I'm being proved wrong.

We were originally told that we would see consultants at Buckland which has not so far proved to be the case. I did get one appointment there but on arrival the consultant said it was a mistake and I should see someone else. Most appointments I get are in Margate and I always ring and ask for Canterbury which they always do albeit at a later date. A few weeks back I received a letter asking me to go Margate for an ultrasound scan and when I rang up they said we can do that in Buckland!!.

I've just returned from my summer holiday with the mandatory ear infection, phoned my doctors for an appointment and was told I can only get an appointment today at the Buckland Hospital. Is it now an overspill for Doctors surgeries that cannot cope with the numbers?

They are not getting enough OPD patients at Buckland (persuading Deal & Sandwich residents to use this location was always going to be difficult) so GP services are being directed to them to boost numbers.

I wasn't aware of a GP service at Buckland, when I done my back in just after Christmas I went to the Minor Injuries unit there and was told they could not prescribe painkillers despite there being a Pharmacy on site.

To be fair i've just received a great service. Arrived at 10.40, filled a form in, saw the Doctor immediately and out of the building by 10.50. Even the receptionist was pleasant and professional

I would be happy to see quality doctors running the emergency doctor service at Buckland.
My son-in-law saw one on the 10th with what the doctor diagnosed as a kidney infection. 36 hours later he was fighting for his life with a temperature of 40.5 suffering with pneumonia, sepsis and on a ventilator and only now beginning to show an slight improvement. The 999 paramedic who saw him and ambulance crew were brilliant so are the ITU unit in Canterbury where he is likely to be for quite a while.
