- 21 June 2011 14:15111155I have just reported child pornography which had appeared on a normal well known website (I can't say which one.) The individual appeared to have slipped under the radar and had posted links and sickening posts and, more shockingly, they had been there for a couple of weeks. I was alerted to this earlier today by someone who told me that people who were afraid of reporting it. Whilst I appreciate we have to be careful in this day and age, the thought of NOT reporting this person would never enter my head and left me reeling. Let me add that anyone could have reported it without being a member or anonymously.

I believe the most worrying thing about the whole situation is that others did not report it and I fail to understand why they were afraid. There is no need to be afraid if you have nothing to hide especially if the person reporting can do it anonymously.-----------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------- - 22 June 2011 01:13111237I have a lot of experience in search-engine functions, related to my writing work and SEO, and find it hard to understand how people think they can get away with porno-posting using children, as the web owners, ie Google and others, are becoming stricter in what is posted on websites, and have increased their controls.
Adding to that, the Police world-wide are very strict when they find such rings, and usually manage to arrest the whole lot: operators of the offending site and those who look at it and download on their computers.
In fact, to download child pornography is a crime, so if one comes across it by chance, one HAS to report it, because the site is already imprinted in the computer's system.
People who run such sites should get a severe sentencing!

I agree Alexander, it will be interesting to see if it appears in the news as it's one of the big websites, but somehow I doubt it. It remained there for a long time and certainly would lose them a lot of credibility.
Thankfully the police are dealing with it now and it has of course been removed.
