Most politicians or those of a political bent can sometimes see an opposing point of view and maybe agree with it, but there are those Like Barry and Keith (when he was in the Labour fold) who would and do stick to a set mantra which I find is no basis for a discussion, in fact it kills it dead. I always believed the art of a good debate was to put across your point of view and give the reasons for it, then the other person or persons do the same. You may never agree but to debase the discussion with personal insults or name calling of someone you have not met means you have no basis or ammunition to take part in the discussion.
I did not meet Mrs Harmen personally but I did listen to the questions she asked and the answers she gave to questions asked of her and I was impressed, as I was with the prospective Labour candidate who I did meet on a one to one basis, and may I say she gave as good as she got, a very immpressive lady.
