Actually, if I had realise the vice grip, fear, secretiveness and ruthlessness of such an organisation over a Town....and it subsequent effect.....compared to other Ports....such as Southampton....Portsmouth etc.....I would never have moved here....
I have asked if any other Sea Port has a Charter and a similar situation as this Town and the Dover Harbour Board.........no such thing exists, as anyone else understands.....
I do not think it is Hiss and Boo but rather sheer frustration to see something they love just deteriorating and dying.....no matter what......
You cannot dig it out.....or get anywhere............it is mysterious and secretive.
People are frightened....and just keep quiet......However, the jobs and core businesses have gone...The Town is as dull as their organisation..........and people are becoming disinterested...knowing that nothing will happen.....in the end..there will be no power and they will be dancing with themselves

Royal Charter of Dover.
King James I gave Dover Harbour Board its Royal Charter in 1606 placing the Lord Warden and his "Board" in charge of running the port and since then the constitution of the Board has been changed on a number of occasions by Acts of Parliament to its present status of eight, a Chairman, and four other members appointed by the Secretary of State, two ex officio members and an eighth member appointed by the other seven.
