Without putting on the old rose-tinted specs, this seems to be more of a problem now than it used to be. There has always been bullying and abuse, but society has become increasingly tolerant of bad behaviours of all sorts, with little or no sanctions, few boundaries set and fewer of those respected, and the result is unchecked and apparently accepted appalling behaviour. The risk of tolerating the breakdown in boundaries is that what few boundaries are left are not respected. I don't want to sound too retrograde, but I saw someone shopping in a supermarket in dirty jogging bottoms and a filthy and tatty sweatshirt yesterday. At what point did it become ok to shop, for instance, in your pyjamas? Or dress children up in faux-sexy clothes? And yes, I think it is all relevant to this topic!
