22:4878156Good news that this area of a tip has now become something to love, it's a shame the river is not the same.
WE started this one off over 10yrs ago, trying to get this to where it is now.
But as things turn out the old River Watch is gone and forgotten and no one even remembers them.
Well done to whoever sorted it out.
But I have to admit, the R.W would have done it quicker.
NOW GET THE POXY RIVER SORTED OUT.
NO way can you get a drop of 13 inches in a week and a half at the end of August with all of that rain that we had.
Sorry.

23:0478162Great to see this part of the river bank finally sorted out. Will be a great spot to sit and contemplate. What we need is more places like this along the path of the river. Lets hope it doesn't get vandalised!.

23:1078165Howard my good man, How can you watch the wildlife float past if you can't see the river.
We could get the wildlife to wear stilts maybe.
P.S if you do sit there make sure you don't get am empty can in the back of the head.

23:1378166Yes, traffic noise could be a problem, but then traffic seems to be a problem in most of Dover. The area certainly looks much better now though. A definite improvement.

23:2078169Pauline dear lady, Traffic is not usualy a problem for most wildlife, Yes the bank is nice but what are your views on the actual river?
No point in pratting about round the edges when it's the center that needs the bizz.

23:2578171If that is your feelings Howie I shall take it as everyones Point of view.
I see the bad side that others don't............I'm not looking for an argument as on other threads so I shall leave it alone.
Your river ( sorry, the E.A.s river ) enjoy it.

23:2778172It will certainly make it easier to throw the odd pram and shopping trolley into the Dour.

no offence was meant, i was just pointing out that any improvement is better than none at all.
it was my personal view, not that of the forum.

00:0978187Howard, should the River Watch have still been performing without all of the bullshit and the red tape, we would not be at the stage we are now.
It would have been done and dusted and looking towards better and bigger things.
NO offence taken Howard. I just feel ashamed of what we have and what we could have. It's still a very personel thing to me this river, I live on it, I breath it.
I may have saw something yesterday for the first time but cannot confirm it until I'm posotive...............................or have a photo.

09:3178228I know you are very passionate about the river Ian but then nature plays a part doesnt it in the amount of flow and so on. I know you are an expert and I wouldnt dream of claiming I know more about it, not by a long chalk, but arent we in an era of red tape, rules and regulations, health and safety. Even the little park yesterday was affected by health and safety. So those River Watch days now seem to belong to long ago, to another era.
... but at least the event yesterday was something positive to do with the river and its fringes. Since those old days when there was little positive, there is now various flag-ups of the Dour to catch the tourist eye.
