12:4786333the latest scientific advice is for people to eat honey on toast.
apparently the fructose in honey breaks down alcohol into harmless by products and the potassium and sodium in the toasted bread helps the body to cope.
not that any of our members would over indulge, i am sure.

12:5886337I heard the tale end of a discussion on Radio 2 this morning that might have started on this news item, someone was saying she didn't like honey after finding out it is bee spit.
A caller said someone should tell her where eggs come from

14:4086354I won't have to worry about a hangover cure this year as I'm still not allowed to drink alcohol yet!

15:4086358I recommend a Prairie Oyster. Google it and see, there are many recipes but they all involve a raw egg to be swallowed whole.

16:0786360I am one of the lucky ones I do not get hangovers but about 3-4 times in my life I have mixed drinks and been so ill I could not even got out of bed except to go to the bathroom, then the only remedy is sleep.

17:2486366when i started this thread i thought that everyone would have their own favourite that works for them.
i remember one revolting one which was popular many moons ago, a mixture of raw egg, worcester sauce and tomato juice, maybe that it's the prairie oyster mention above?

17:4386369That's it Howard, the thought of the raw egg white texture is enough to make me ill.

17:5686371The real key is to try to stop the symptoms that cause the hangover - principally dehydration caused by the alcohol.
Drinking at least one pint of fluid (water, squash, fruit juice, tea, weakish coffee) before bed replaces a lot of the fluid you will have lost, the paracetamol help by killing any headache, but also help the body with fluid retention.
