    BETTESHANGER SUSTAINABLE PARKS

    Dear Colleague

Hadlow College at Betteshanger Colliery: Betteshanger Sustainable Energy and Mining Heritage Park
We would like ask you if you or someone within your organisation would be willing to contribute to a consultation we are undertaking in conjunction with a unique scheme being developed at the former Betteshanger Colliery near Dover, Kent.

The scheme which has investment from the Homes and Communities Agency, East Kent Spatial Development Company, private investors and Hadlow College will create a high quality sustainable park for green technologies, environmental management and alternative energy in East Kent. The first phase of the scheme is expected to start on site in April 2014.
    It will deliver:
    (i) A green technologies enterprise Complex: Betteshanger Sustainable Business and Commerce Park (ii) World class research & development supported with education at Betteshanger Sustainable Education Centre.
The third scheme element will be a new visitor destination and learning facility the Betteshanger Sustainable Energy and Mining Heritage Park which will uniquely showcase East Kent Mining Heritage and sustainable energy production together, set within an innovative Landscape Laboratory.

We very much want the celebration of mining heritage to reflect the experience and knowledge of communities and organisations throughout Kent, particularly its mining communities. From January 2014 we expect to start a series of consultations throughout the County. To begin this we are circulating some 1,000 people with the attached survey which we very much hope you will be willing to complete. It takes only a few minutes.

Further information on Betteshanger Sustainable Parks can be obtained from http://doverhadlow.cfa-uat.com.
We do hope that you will join us in contributing to this keynote scheme which is expected to both create significant economic growth in sustainable green technologies and provide a new much needed focus for East Kent coalmining communities.
Please could you note that although the Betteshanger scheme is due to be launched on 6th November, information relating to it will not be made public until that date. We would therefore appreciate it if the information in this survey is kept confidential until then.

    Please return completed survey to:-

    Yours sincerely
    Mark Lumsdon Taylor,
Group Director of Finance, Hadlow College
