This is a question for the cabbies/taxi drivers on this forum.
I went to dover council to apply for a Hackney Carriage licence but was told that all licenses have been issued and there isn’t anymore available.
They also said that I could buy A licence off of a retiring driver or someone that just doesn’t want to do it anymore, after talking to a few taxi drivers they verified this to be true and said they fetch up to 10k.
I’m very interested in purchasing a licence If there is one available also I’d like some inside information on what the money is like.
I hope to hear from a taxi driver who could give me some advice on this situation
Thanks for reading
John :)

This has always been the way with DDC. They're happy to continue with the same total number of "plates" and let them change hands on the open market. I've had a few friends with hackney licenses over the years but none are still plying their trade. £10k must be way over the top in the current climate. If you can get the lucrative, regular school runs for the local authorities there's still money to be made, I suppose.
