    98/99??? I thought you only had to keep records for 7 years, so how on earth can they charge you that much money going back that far? If you kept records for the prescribed time, you would not have a leg to stand on as your records will be destroyed by now. I take it they have evidence of your liability? I would dispute it, on principle. But even if you decline to pay, they will add it to your tax code and recover it over the next financial year. When in a fight with the IR, you cannot win. I know that from experience.
