'My' marina Crick is at the SUMMIT of the Leicester Arm.
If I go left I can go DOWN Watford Locks and right I can go DOWN Foxton Locks, each time losing a lock-full of water (about 30,000 gallons), which is why the Canal and River Trust have literaly locked the locks for the past few months!
The canal is normally filled from Welford Reservoir which is extremely low (worst since 1893 apparently).
This situation is attributed to a period of dry weather, with England having its driest spring in over a century.
FWIW Yelvertoft Marina, just up the canal from me, had to put in stop-planks (dam up it's entrance) so boats would still be floating whilst IN the marina!
