Today is the 80th birthday of a wonderful lady Margaret Weekes.
She is the Age Concern charity shop manageress and has been for the last 18 years and has no intention of retiring just yet. She still works there for three full days a week and does extra days if needed when we are short staffed.
A really wonderful woman who should have been in the honours list, Charlie please put her name forward if you read this.

Happy Birthday Margaret Weekes!!
[perhaps an award from an august body locally? That way the lady could get two at a time]

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Yes a wonderful story. She should indeed be considered for the Honours list, people like Margaret should be, there is also a local honour called the Mayors Civic Awards, or even the Freeman of the Borough Award. I forget the exact name of the last award there but you get the gist.

Her hard work was acknowledged locally a couple of years ago which I think was the Mayors Civic Award, Sue Nicholas, our ex-chairman, would know.
I forgot to add in my post that she is also a volunteer like the rest of us.

Well done to Margaret and Happy Birthday too.
People like Margaret don't look for recognition for what they do, they do it because they want to, but if an award is forthcoming, that is so much the better

I am going to print off this page in the morning for Margaret to see, she does not have enough time in the day for sites like this she is too busy doing other things.

never mind jan, could have been worse, you might have been in fancy dress.
so you have joined the ranks of the elite by having your photo in the local press.
