Following on from this story..Kent Police have filled Doverforum in directly on progress ...They are investigating after the interior lights were damaged at the Grand Shaft in Dover as shown in the pictures above - the Grand Shaft as we know is an historic staircase linking Snargate Street to the Western Heights.
Officers were called on Sunday afternoon (15 April 2012) by a volunteer from the Western Heights Preservation Society who had been working at the site reporting that the covers and tubes from lights had been removed and smashed on the ground.
A 12-year-old boy was spoken to near the Grand Shaft. A further three 13-year-olds, two boys and a girl, were stopped in York Street and later spoken to under caution.
Officers are continuing to investigate the criminal damage and anyone with information about who might be responsible is urged to contact Kent Police on 101, giving reference ZY/10510.
